Q: When do hurricanes and tropical storms typically occur?
A: The official Atlantic hurricane season begins June 1 and continues through November 30. For more on hurricanes, visit the National Hurricane Center website at http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/index.shtml.
Q: How can Allianz Global Assistance assist me during a hurricane?
A: Trip Cancellation and Interruption Coverage* may reimburse non-refundable, prepaid deposits if you have to cancel or interrupt your trip for covered reasons, including:
- A natural disaster, such as a hurricane, that causes their airline, cruise line or tour operator to have a complete cessation of services for 24 or more consecutive hours*
- A covered travel delay that causes you to miss 50% of your trip*
- Your home is made uninhabitable by a natural disaster such as a hurricane*
- Your destination is made uninhabitable by a natural disaster such as a hurricane*
Travel Delay Coverage* may reimburses up to a maxium daily limit per covered person for travel delays of six or more hours that are the result of a natural disaster such as a hurricane. Missed Connection Coverage* may reimburse for reasonable transportation expenses and accommodations needed for your clients to reach your destination or cruise. The missed connection must be caused by the cancellation or delay of the airline flight, due to bad weather, for at least three hours, causing you to miss their cruise or connection.
You may also receive other benefits, such as:
- Emergency Medical and Dental Coverage
- Emergency Medical Evacuation
- Delayed, Lost, Stolen or Damaged Baggage
- Collision/Loss Damage to a Rental Car**
- Travel Accident Insurance
Benefits will be covered according to the terms of your Certificate of Insurance/Policy and Confirmation Letter. Please review these documents and carry them with you on your trip.
Q: When should I purchase Allianz Global Assistance coverage?
A: Comprehensive travel insurance policies can protect your family vacation investment, but like all types of insurance, you must buy it before the storm is a sure thing. You should purchase coverage when you book the trip. We suggest doing this for all trips regardless of the destination or the time of year you are traveling. Storm-related claims may only be valid if the policy was bought before the storm, hurricane, or associated warning is announced by the National Weather Service. Once warnings are issued, it is considered a “foreseeable event” and no longer eligible for coverage.

**Not all vehicles are covered as part of the Rental Car Protection. Coverage is not available for cars rented in or driven through Israel, Jamaica, Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, or jurisdictions where the law doesn’t allow this coverage.
